April 13, 2026 – Superintendents

Below are your weekly updates and reminders from the Georgia Department of Education. Here are your links to the District Deadlines and To-Dos Dashboard and the Digest Archive.

Registration Open for Georgia School Safety and Homeland Security Conference

GaDOE, in partnership with Georgia Emergency Management and Homeland Security Agency, is pleased to announce that registration for the 2026 Georgia School Safety and Homeland Security Conference is now open. School leaders, safety team members, and SROs are welcome June 8-9 in historic Savannah for sessions packed with valuable content, networking with other school safety professionals, and vendors presenting school safety solutions and services.

Required School-Based Medicaid Training Dates

Recent changes to the Georgia Children’s Intervention School Services (CISS) and Administrative Claiming for Education (ACE) programs require mandatory trainings to communicate the updated guidance for all districts utilizing School-Based Medicaid. If at least one LEA representative does not attend the mandatory training, program participation may be suspended.

There are five opportunities to attend the training.

Reminder: Update District Contacts for Excellence Recognition Programs

GaDOE offers multiple excellence recognition programs for students, educators, and schools. To ensure districts and schools receive timely updates, please complete the Excellence Recognitions listserv contact form and share it with staff who support these programs. Ideally, each program should have both a district contact and a school-level contact. If your district does not currently have designated contacts, this is a good opportunity to identify them as we prepare for the 2026-2027 school year.
