Innovative Education Fund Grant Program Launches

The Innovative Education Fund is offered by the Georgia Foundation for Public Education. The fund provides up to $50,000 over 12 months for eligible organizations to design, pilot, or expand innovative education programs. Applicants may choose from two program options: the Innovative Education Prototype/Expansion Program and the Innovation for Impact Program. All funded programs support solutions that improve outcomes for Georgia students. Traditional public schools, charter schools, school districts, and nonprofit organizations partnered with public schools or districts are eligible to apply.

Title I, Part C Education of Migratory Children LEA ID&R Plan

Direct-funded LEAS under the Title I, Part C Education of Migratory Children program must complete a local Identification and Recruitment (ID&R) plan as part of the Federal Programs Consolidated Application each fiscal year.

Post-School Outcomes Opens for Viewing (FY24-25 Exiters)

The Post-School Survey documents post-school outcomes for students with disabilities within one year of leaving high school. The application is now open, and users may view the student list to begin contacting students and collecting survey information.

Deadline Extended: High-Cost Fund Grant for Special Education Services

The High-Cost Fund grant is intended to assist LEAs with the direct special education instructional costs of children with disabilities whose intensity, frequency, and diversity of the special education and related services needs are at least three times the state average per-pupil expenditure (approximately $27,000). Costs associated with providing direct special education instructional and related services, as identified within the child’s IEP, may be considered when applying for this grant.

Reminder: American Printing House (APH) Census Closes February 20

The Federal Quota Program conducts an annual census of eligible students who are blind or have low vision to determine the per-student funding allocation for purchasing educational materials from the American Printing House for the Blind (APH). LEAs with eligible students should complete the census.

Reminder: Residential Reintegration Services Grant Available

The Grant for Residential and Reintegration Services is provided to improve achievement outcomes and increase access to the curriculum for students with severe disabilities. This grant assists LEAs in supporting the placement of students with severe disabilities in private residential settings and/or the reintegration of students back into the LEA or other community-based services, as defined by each student’s Individualized Education Program (IEP). The grant allows the state to assist LEAs through a cost-sharing model when costs exceed $30,000.

Reminder: Annual Bond Questionnaire

The annual bond questionnaire is now ready and available for updates. Note that the bond questionnaire only applies to the 180 traditional school districts, and is not applicable for charters and RESAs. The questionnaire can be found in the COPS Finance Application in the MyGaDOE Portal (use Google Chrome as your browser since others can cause problems with the questionnaire).

Districts’ finance staff should complete the survey and notify the Superintendent when it is ready for sign-off. When the Superintendent logs in to certify the questionnaire, their name should automatically populate on the certification tab. If this certification page does not accurately identify them or is blank, please contact Sarah Morris prior to sign-off.

While there is no longer a separate construction questionnaire, districts must certify either their new local facility plan or their facility plan update by April 15, 2026. This action takes the place of the construction questionnaire.
