Submit Your Count of First-Year Teachers for Teach in the Peach
As part of our Teach in the Peach teacher recruitment and retention campaign, GaDOE would like to send a small welcome package to first-year teachers – including a letter, Teach in the Peach brochure, pen, button, and stickers. These packages will be mailed directly to you for local distribution and are intentionally light and easy to store.
To help us plan, please share a rough estimate of how many teachers in your district will be in their first year teaching in any district this school year. We are looking for a count of true first-year teachers – those who have not taught before in any district or school. An exact count is not necessary – a general estimate will be sufficient.
Thank you for helping us welcome and celebrate the newest members of Georgia’s education family!

2025-2026 Dyslexia Informational Handbook
The 2025-2026 Dyslexia Informational Handbooks (revised July 2025) is now available! Updates reflect changes from the new Georgia Early Literacy and Dyslexia Act (HB 307), signed into law in April 2025. This new law aimed to merge and clarify the early literacy and dyslexia requirements previously established by Senate Bill 38 in 2019 and the Georgia Early Literacy Act (HB 538) in 2023.
Educators are encouraged to read the handbook in its entirety to understand the requirements surrounding literacy and dyslexia. Schools and educators should begin reviewing their current practices to make sure they are aligned with the new legislation. You can access the handbook via the link below or the Literacy and Dyslexia repository in Inspire.
NOTE: The Dyslexia Informational Handbook must be distributed to “all personnel employed by the LEA.” LEAs will have until August 1 to certify (Reporting Manual for all literacy data COMING SOON) that they distributed the handbook to all personnel in the school district.

Supporting SB 351 Compliance

This law focuses on adopting district social media policies, preventing cyberbullying, and promoting digital citizenship. To support these efforts, GaDOE has partnered with Parent ProTech to provide free resources for districts statewide. Let’s work together to keep Georgia’s students safe online!
