Georgia Learns Planned Reopen

GaDOE is planning to welcome users back to Georgia Learns on Monday, May 18 at 11 a.m. Thank you for your patience and continued support. 

Required Reporting: Georgia Early Literacy and Dyslexia Act

The next reporting deadline for the Georgia Early Literacy application in the MyGaDOE Portal is June 1. K–3 schools must submit end-of-year universal literacy screener data. If the June 1 reporting window appears grayed out, the district likely still needs to complete the final approval for the middle-of-year screener report. Please refer to page 8 of the district user guide for instructions. Completing this step will open the end-of-year reporting window.

2026 Graduation Cohort in CCRPI Live Data Verification in MyGaDOE Portal

The 2026 four-year graduation cohort for high schools is now available in the CCRPI Live Data Verification tool in the CCRPI MyGaDOE Portal. Principals and district staff with CCRPI portal access should review the data to understand which students are in the 2026 four-year graduation cohort, identify students who may need a cohort reassignment request, and ensure required documentation is on file for the Cohort Withdrawal Update application (available this summer).

May is National Foster Care Awareness Month

Every child deserves a sense of belonging. During May, we recognize the thousands of students in Georgia who are navigating the foster care system. GaDOE thanks each school district’s foster care point of contact (POC) who works to strengthen stability for these learners, ensuring their education continues smoothly, and welcoming them with support and understanding.

New Accountability Resource: Accountability System Handbook

The Office of Assessment and Accountability is pleased to release the new Accountability System Handbook, which serves as a comprehensive reference for the College and Career Ready Performance Index (CCRPI) and related accountability processes. This handbook is designed to support district and school leaders by consolidating information on accountability policies, district roles and responsibilities, data sources, timelines, business rules and calculations, and resources into a single document. The handbook does not introduce any new accountability policies or processes; rather, it consolidates existing guidance. We encourage you to review the handbook and share it with relevant staff, and we appreciate your continued partnership as we work together to support Georgia’s students and schools.

Cell Phone Policy Survey

Phones in Focus is a national study by Dr. Angela Duckworth (author of Grit) on school cell phone policies’ effect on student learning and school culture. Recently, national researchers involved in the project have released preliminary results of the impact of restrictions using lockable phone pouches. Participation in the ongoing survey is encouraged.

Findings indicate changes, or lack thereof, to discipline data, test scores, and student wellbeing that can be expected when implementing the new bell-to-bell cell phone restrictions in Georgia.

Internet Safety Survey for Middle School Students

The Criminal Justice Coordinating Council (CJCC) is currently working on an initiative to increase knowledge and awareness of the challenges Middle School Students face regarding internet safety. The CJCC need your assistance in administering a 25‑question, anonymous Middle School Internet Safety Survey to students, designed to capture their real online experiences. The results will directly inform age‑appropriate, practical internet safety education and prevention efforts across Georgia.
