What is the EDFacts Initiative?
EDFacts is an initiative of the U.S. Department of Education (ED) to collect from state education agencies (SEAs) pre-kindergarten through grade 12 education data. Data collected include district and school demographics, education program participation, and performance data. EDFacts combines data submitted by SEAs with other data within ED to support policy development, planning and management.
What is the purpose of EDFacts?
The purpose of EDFacts is to:
- Place the use of robust, timely performance data at the core of decision and policymaking in education.
- Reduce state and district data burden and streamline data practices.
- Improve state data capabilities by providing resources and technical assistance.
- Provide data for planning, policy, and management at the federal, state, and local levels.
What is the role of the Georgia Department of Education?
Each year, the Georgia Department of Education submits over 75 EDFacts data files. It is the responsibility of GaDOE to both submit the data and ensure data quality.
